Are you Passport Ready?
Fellow travellers, here are some pro-tips for passports:
- Make a paper copy of your passport to carry off ship or outside your hotel. Meanwhile, passport stays safe in your safe
- Take a picture of your passport, email it to yourself, and store in an password safe directory on your phone or on the cloud.
- Renew your passport at least 6 months before it expires. Many countries do not allow entry if passport expires in 6 months or less. Mark your calendar 8 months before expiration date to remind you when to start the process.
- Although some closed-loop cruise sailings do not require a passport, don’t travel without one. Emergencies happen. It’s better to be safe, and not become stranded in another country.
- Children under 16 receive passports that are only valid for 5 years, not 10.
- Some countries require 2-4 blank passport pages for entry stamps and visas. Do you have enough?
- Sign your passport as soon as you get it!
